The City Center Farmers Market in Downtown Florence has expanded to a year-round market, every Saturday through the Fall and Winter (except Christmas Eve). The hours are 9am-1pm through December. In January, winter market hours will be 10am-2pm. In April, the market will resume the 9-1 Spring/Summer hours.
Located in the back of the City Center parking lot (accessed via 369 W. Cheves Street), the farmers market is easy to access and has ample parking. Just look for the Downtown campus of Florence Darlington Tech and the white tents! The market is also located close to the PDRTA Route 1 West (Evans Street) route near pickup location 1, The Federal Building Downtown.
The market began last April with eight vendors and now regularly offers a wide range of goods including local meat and dairy products (from grass-fed livestock), organic and locally grown vegetables, breads, baked goods, handmade pasta and sauces, wood, textile, paper, and other handicrafts by local artisans. Friendly vendors, music, and a place to sit and enjoy a meal make the market an easy place to stay a while. Since most in-town farmers markets are seasonal, our change to year-round has brought in vendors who otherwise would not have a local market during the winter months. The City Center Market has significantly increased the number of vendors for the holidays, especially craft vendors. Lately at the market shoppers and locavores have found:
Amanda’s Confections – holiday treats for your table
*Brooklyn South Deli – handmade pasta and sauces, breads and cookies
*Breads & Threads – sourdough bread and sweet rolls, burlap Christmas stockings, boot stretchers and other textile crafts
*Fisher Road Oils & Honey – beeswax candles, handmade bath and beauty products and local honey
Homemade with Love by Lauri – handmade textile gifts
Lulu’s Barkery – homemade treats for four-legged friends
*M&M Farms – fresh local produce
*Ovis Hill Farm – organic produce, meats and dairy from grassfed livestock, eggs, seafood, coffee, and
Piddlin’ with Paper – paper crafts, magnets and other gifts
Sara Price – woodcrafts such as jewelry boxes and more
